Myofascial Osteopathy

I am a UK registered Osteopath trained at the prestigious University College of Osteopathy, formerly known as the British School of Osteopathy. My Osteopath registration number is 9954.

I follow a bespoke, evidence-informed, patient-centred & bio-psychosocial approach, incorporating advanced Myofascial Release techniques which are said to be a missing link in the treatment of muscle-skeletal (msk) pain and dysfunction. This involves sinking through to different layers of tissues to help unwind and undo sometimes years of tension and trauma (physical or emotional). I trained in Myofascial Release with Myofascial Release UK back in 2012. Working with fascial restrictions can have profound effects on the body.

I also heavily use a Neuro-Functional  approach to assess for muscle imbalance and disorders in muscle firing patterns and sequences, which is often the underlying cause of chronic pain and msk disorders that do not respond to more traditional manual therapy treatment approaches. This includes the use of NeuroKinetic Therapy and Douglas Heel's BeActivated approaches together with advanced Myofascial techniques.

I have also trained in at the prestigious Barral Institute in the use Visceral manipulation techniques to work directly with the viscera (organs) of the body, to improve motility (their innate movements as they perform their functions) and mobility (all organs are held in place by ligaments and fascial attachments, which can get restricted and cause problems with organ function, as well as msk referred pain).

I also have some training in Functional Medicine at the Functional Medicine University, and incorporate this further knowledge of systemic health and pathology into treatments; Functional Medicine looks at underlying causes for your poor health such as diet and/or lifestyle considerations, and considers testing and changes that will help improve your health by taking away the underlying causes that trigger your symptoms whatever they may be.​

It’s difficult to put a label on what I do and how I do it, it’s still Osteopathy, but in a very different way to what you might be used to. It’s neuro-functional work in a neuroplastic, muscle-skeletal context, using myofascial techniques to create sensory feedback to help your brain learn to make the right choices when it comes to moving and stabilising your body - and it is usually instantly demonstrable and measurable within sessions!

I have created a variety of treatment options to cater for everybody, from general Osteopathy appointments to longer Full Body MOT appointments for complex cases; Pre and Post-Natal Osteopathy sessions to give you the best chances of pain free pregnancy, or recovery postpartum; to bespoke Myofascial Release, C-Section and Scar Tissue sessions, sessions to improve Diaphragm function, or break the cycle of neuro-dysfunctions involved in Migraine/Headache or TMJ problems; and my signature Chronic Pain Resolution treatment.
